Does It Offer the Top Features You Need?

The second most important thing to evaluate is the features the house offers compared to the features you want most in a house. For example, if you really need a basement for your teen kids to hang out in, you should not compromise by buying a house without a basement. Make a list of your top features and include non-negotiables, such as a basement in this example. Next, compare the house you want to buy with this list to see if this house offers most of the things you need and all the of the non-negotiable features.

Is It Located in a Good Area and Close to Your Job?

You should also look carefully at the location of the house. Is it in the type of neighborhood you hoped for? Is it close enough to your job? The location of the home will affect many aspects of your life, and you should make sure this house is in the right spot before you make an offer on it.

Will the House Most Likely Appreciate in Value?

Finally, look closely at the house itself. Is it a house that will most likely appreciate in value, or is there a chance it could lose some value? This is an important factor when buying a house, but it is especially important if you plan on selling it within the next 5 to 10 years.
